Yes, seeing is believing !

We are interested in developing a new pedagogical method that adopts the use of augmented reality & virtual reality to advance  the physics & materials science education. One of the main challenges encountered by students in comprehending the physics concepts and the intricate nature of many materials structures has been the difficulty to visualize them especially at the atomic or molecular levels. Augmented reality & Mixed Reality apps and tools such as HP Reveal and HoloLens can be used to help address this issue with the help of Unity code to produce the apps.

In addition, this approach can potentially be used as a vivid educational platform to introduce the physics and materials science discipline into the K12 education by bringing these concepts and structures to "life" in the classrooms.

We have developed examples of AR and VR examples designed for carbon-based nanomaterials and water :

AR & VR APPS FOR CARBON NANOMATERIALS

AR & VR APPS FOR ICE/WATER

In addition, we produced additional examples of 2D and 3D AR models depicting various materials structures that can be viewed with your mobile devices/tablets using HP Reveal app for Augmented Reality (first, you need to get the app and follow "sakidja"). You can also view them with a printout of these pictures (download here).
