• Excited to share that our research group at Missouri State with my colleague Andy Duff, a computational materials scientist was selected as one of the three finalists on the "Smart Coating" category of the Airbus-BMW Quantum Computing Challenge. In this article at the Quantum Insider, we highlight the quantum mechanical approach we employed to tackle the challenging issue of modeling corrosion using quantum computing.

Starting Spring of 2025, we plan to introduce a special topic course on quantum computing with the focus on Quantum Information Science (QIS) in collaboration with Xanadu, the leading photonic quantum computing industry and the developer of Pennylane code. • The Future is Quantum! I am very proud of our four students; Anika Tabassum, Matthew Bruenning & Gaige Riggs from the Materials Science/MNAS Program and Md Zoheb Ullah Sohel from the Computer Science Dept. They gave two poster presentations about their inaugural research work on hashtag#QuantumComputing algorithms at the 31st Annual Frank Einhellig Graduate Interdisciplinary Forum held at Missouri State University.. This is the first time ever that a poster on quantum computing algorithms has been presented at this forum. One poster was titled "Quantum Fusion: Blending Quantum Mechanics with Cutting-Edge #QuantumInformationScience (QIS)", and another was "Revolutioning Machine Learning : Harnessing Quantum Computing's Edge" Both posters were well received. The QIS-based Quantum Mechanics was picked as one of the outstanding poster presentations. Pictured below are the (overly jovial) students during the poster sessions and Anika receiving the award on behalf of the team. In addition, Matt and Gaige presented their own posters on #AI-guided #MoltenSaltReactors and #DrugDesign respectively. Been a busy Saturday morning for our group and so much fun.
