Tyler works on developing transferable many-body interatomic potentials for molecular dynamics simulations on a variety of carbide systems. His primary focus is on a series of complex transition metal-rich carbides such as M23C6 (M=Cr, Mo, W, etc) phases. These phases play a significant role in affecting the main mechanisms of creep deformation in Ni-based Superalloys.
