RESEARCH AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES

     I specialize in African American Studies, Cultural Competence with Diverse Populations, Culturally Responsive Literature, Diversity/Multiculturalism/Social Justice, Out-of-School Literacies, and Social/Emotional/Moral Development.  I developed a theory entitled, “Moratherapy” for use in Character Education to help educators enhance the moral development of students:  See-Brinson, S. Reclaiming Children and Youth-The Journal of Strengths-Based Interventions, 14(3), 169-174.  I engage in national, regional, and local consultation. I also disseminate information via educational programs, workshops, television, and radio.

Creative Activities

 
“The People Versus Racism and Inequality in America,” a mock trial conducted by honor
     students enrolled in a cultural competence course designed for the University of Memphis
     Honors Program.  Sitting Judge Earnestine Hunt Dorse presided, and Dr. Benjamin
     Hooks, Notable Civil Rights Activist, made the closing remarks. (2001).

Back-To-School Kickoff of East Tampa School-Community Partnership, produced a
     training video of a model of home/school/community collaboration.  Lockhart
